I made this using a picture by Stealthflanker as a base pattern to digitize.

Original Art: [link]

I had to take the outer gold ring out and make both bands white, the black (which comes last) wasn't tracking cleanly in my prototypes.

The base material is Rainbow Felt from JoAnn, stabilized on OESD tear-away ultra stabilizer. I used OESD white cut-away topcover underneath the white; in subsequent runs I've started leaving the topcover under all the stitches so I don't have to cut it off after the white layer. The visible thread is Isacord Poly 40 weight, and the gold colors are 0824 for the "7" itself and 0542 for the corners of the "7"; the bobbin thread is OESD poly (white for white, black for everything else). The needle is an Organ 80/12 sharp.

The entire pattern is a little more then 14,000 stitches and takes roughly 30 minutes to complete. I can do two in a single hooping but it does them individually (so it does one completely and then the other completely).

My machine is a Bernina artista 630E and the digitization was done using Bernina Editor 6.

Well, Isara's jacket is 20%. AS SOON as I'm done with this mega order of AnimeIowa ranger armbands I plan to resume working on it with the hope of having the jacket at least completed by AI. Then comes Isara's skirt and shawl, and then the Welkin jacket, which will be easier because that one's a costume pattern I've used before so I can hammer it out FAST.

The idea to do Welkin/Isara was "Isara's" idea. We're just friends (never anything more so says she) but I told her I'd make her any one costume she wants as long as it has a skirt (because she doesn't like them and I'm a bit of a sadist). So she thought about it a while and came back with Valkyria Chronicles which I'm all for because that game was the only reason I ever bought a PS3.

And that gave me a reason to finally get up and buy an embroidery machine that I've been waiting since college.

I'll post pictures up as the project comes along. It all has to be finished by Sakura-Con 2013.
